Our school

Learning together since 1938

Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Ladang Wellesley is a government-aided Tamil primary school in Lunas, in the Kulim district of Kedah (school code KBD5048).

It began in 1938 with 24 pupils learning in a temple building on the Wellesley estate. Today the school teaches close to 500 children from preschool to Year 6 in a three-storey building that opened in 2010, with a morning and an afternoon session.

We offer the Dual Language Programme (DLP), a preschool and a Special Education Integration Programme (PPKI), and we are part of the Ministry of Education's school transformation programme (TS25).

The roof: Stands for the idea of “Sekolahku Rumahku” — my school, my home.
The five petals: Living by the five principles of the Rukun Negara and growing into excellent citizens.
The letter W: The first letter of the school's name, Wellesley.
Blue and white: Blue for higher-order thinking; white for purity of heart and honesty.
Navy and red: Navy for the cooperation of parents; red for the skill and wisdom of teachers.
